ProductCart end of life: what happens on 11 January 2027
Updated 12 October 2026 · — days until hosting ends
The short answer: NetSource is discontinuing ProductCart. On 11 January 2027 it stops hosting ProductCart sites and ends technical support, the tax API and SSL certificates on its hosting. Stores then run on an extended licence grace period whose end date has not been announced. After it, licence validation fails, integrations stop, and stores can no longer be used.
The timeline
- Now. No new ProductCart licences are sold. Version 5.5 is the final version; NetSource will release a security patch only if a risk calls for one.
- Until 11 January 2027. Hosting and technical support continue for active merchants.
- 11 January 2027. NetSource stops hosting all ProductCart installations, including sites that don't sell online. Support, bug fixes, the tax API and SSL certificates on its hosting end. Email on its hosting ends too, unless you arrange it separately with NetSource.
- Grace period, end date not announced. Licence keys keep working for a while, so stores still run.
- After the grace period. In NetSource's words: "License validation will fail, integrations will cease to work, and stores will no longer be usable at all."
Every edition is affected: Standard, Apparel Module, Configurator (Build to Order), Configurator+ and legacy editions. Subscription Bridge is being retired as well.
Can you just move ProductCart to other hosting?
For a while. NetSource says licence holders may run ProductCart elsewhere, at their own risk, but not indefinitely. ProductCart is not self-contained: licence validation and the shipping, tax and payment-gateway integrations run on NetSource's systems. When the grace period ends, those stop, wherever the files are hosted.
Your options
- Move to Shopify with NetSource. NetSource names Shopify as its preferred alternative and offers paid builds that include migration. It says its migrations typically take 6 to 12 weeks, scheduled first come, first served.
- Use NetSource's automated data transfer to Shopify. It moves the core catalogue. NetSource documents what it leaves out, including quantity price breaks, content pages, their redirects, inactive products and products with more than 3 options, and it says the design will be "completely stock". See the full list.
- Move to Shopify with a Shopify Partner. That is what we do: a fixed price, a fixed date, a 301 redirect for every old URL, each one requested after launch, and a report that reconciles every product before you pay the balance. How a migration works, step by step.
- Move to another platform. NetSource offers migration help for other platforms as a separate paid service.
What to do first
- Download your control-panel exports now, while everything works: Reports › Custom Data Export and the Export for Re-Import.
- Write down what runs on NetSource's systems for you: shipping carriers, payment gateway, tax, SSL and email. Each one needs a new home before 11 January 2027.
- Find the products Shopify can't hold the same way: more than 3 options, configurators, quantity price breaks.
- Start early. Migrations need time for your review, and the queue gets longer as the date gets closer.
Questions
Is ProductCart being discontinued?
Yes. NetSource is sunsetting ProductCart: no new licences are sold, version 5.5 is the final version, and hosting and technical support end on 11 January 2027. Every edition is affected, including Standard, Apparel, Configurator (Build to Order) and Configurator+.
When does ProductCart stop working?
NetSource stops hosting ProductCart sites on 11 January 2027. After that, an extended grace period for licence keys lets stores keep working for a while; NetSource has not announced when it ends. Once it does, licence validation fails, integrations stop and, in NetSource's words, stores "will no longer be usable at all."
Can I keep running ProductCart on my own hosting?
Only for a limited time, and at your own risk. NetSource says licence holders may run ProductCart elsewhere, but licence validation and the shipping, tax and payment integrations run on NetSource's systems, and there will be no updates, patches or support after 11 January 2027.
What stops working when ProductCart hosting ends?
On 11 January 2027 NetSource ends ProductCart hosting, technical support, the ProductCart tax API, SSL certificates managed through its hosting, and email managed through its hosting (email can continue separately if you arrange it with NetSource). Subscription Bridge is also being retired.
